Strashun (Zaskovttzer), Samuel

(1794-1872)

   Lithuanian talmudic scholar. He was born in Zaskovitzer; he was initially named after his birthplace, but later adopted the name of his father-in-law David Strashun. He lived in Vilna, where he devoted himself to scholarship. He wrote annota-tions and glosses on almost all the tractates of the Mishnah and Talmud.
